Monkey X is a great creature after all.
I still don’t like AT ALL the limit of CapitalSensitive typing… but this is the fact, I can’t change (I believe…) this.
Monkey X seems to have problems (but I’m confident a solution will be found!)
One of the most important problem I found (and newbee game programmers, and new customer seem to have to fight) is the setup-configuration process.
In fact, Monkey X works as a translator: you need the proper tool-chain to ‘compile’ for the required platform.
On Android (for example) you need to have installed:
- Android SDK
- Java SE SDK
- ANT
All this requires to READ a (quite long…) manual to find, download and setup these SDKs. THEN you need to configure MonkeyX to use what installed.
So the idea (not of today…) is to create a Monkey In A Box tool.
Some years ago I’ve created BlitzMax Companion: this tool allows to download and install some required/useful files and applications. All in one simple application. See HERE for more informations.
So the basic idea is quite the same, only just a little more complex, as different targets AND different OS supported requires different files.
At the moment I’m writing down an ‘alfa’ version of Monkey In A Box (MIAB) – studying what I need, what the application should do ‘automatically’ and so on.
Everything is done with BlitzMax+MaxGUI.
I’m thinking to add the MonkeyX free demo link in it… let’s see!
Here the logo… (still in beta of course!)
